Please note that  this does not take the place of other therapies that clients are involved in, it is designed as a supplement tool to their current therapeutic relationship.

Our goal: is to reacquaint clients with their bodies, empowering clients to be in their bodies with comfort and ease. Using the movement process to reactivate dormant muscles which may be creating impaired movement functioning and physical pain. (rather than dissociative processes). Our main goal is to provide a safe, nurturing space for clients to explore movement and reintegrate with their bodies. We provide a quiet place where clients can listen intuitively to their own bodies while being challenged out of their physical comfort zones.

Survivors of trauma can experience a safe place to integrate healing into their bodies, increasing awareness of how the effects of trauma have been stored in muscle memory and movement patterns which cannot always be addressed through traditional therapeutic models. This is a gestalt experience which can open up new & deeper levels of process for therapy

How Body Trauma Pilates satisfies a need:
This form of movement focuses on addressing the physical aspects of trauma that can be difficult in the non touch, non moving environment of traditional therapies. a wonderful supplement for clinicians working cognitively with clients, this is an somatically focused experience that supplements, not replaces psychotherapy. providing safe, intentional movement allowing the client to access the deepest layer of trauma stored at a cellular level and reclaim their body in a whole new way.

What clients can expect:
Intake: initial assessment includes a 30 minute one on one assessment with client to discuss history and current goals. Client must have an established support network prior to beginning this work.
The Process: Pilates integrated movement will include as many private training sessions as client deems necessary to feel comfortable in the movement process. Each 55 minute session will focus on movement & breath.  Basic Pilates principles will be taught with specific emphasis on area of trauma (pelvic floor for sexual abuse survivors or specific area of trauma associated with surgery, etc). During each session, clients will be encouraged to go inward, guided through breath work while moving through physical exercises to access awareness and insight and changing stored movement patterns to complete the cycle of healing.
clients are encouraged to continue their therapeutic relationship outside of the studio to help process the insights gained through movement.

Follow up: Individual sessions may be followed up with small group classes to continue Pilates principles without the therapeutic nature
Cost: Initial assessment and interview: FREE
55 minute movement based private sessions $65 each or 10 for $550
